I had the opportunity to spend a few days at the Texican Court Hotel in Irving Texas and found it to be the perfect place for exploring the area. I was not compensated for my stay this is just a review based on my experience.
I have often written about how I enjoy staying at historic and boutique hotels, and the Texican Court is one such hotel. At the time of this writing the Texican Court is #2 on TripAdvisor for hotels in Irving Texas. The Texican is part of the Valencia Hotel Group, one of several hotels in Texas, and the second one I have stayed in. I previously stayed at Cavalry Court in College Station Texas and it was a great stay as well.
One of the great things about the Texican Court is its location. Located across the street from the Toyota Music Factory and the Irving Convention Center, in the heart of Las Colinas, it is close to everything the area has to offer, and there are a lot of things to do in Las Colinas. From great live music, entertainment venues, nightlife and excellent restaurants there is always something going on.
The Texican Court is a Texan themed boutique hotel, celebrating all things Texas. The hotel offers valet parking along with a large parking lot where you can self park for free. I had a reservation so check in at the lobby was quick, and they let me check in a little early. Being Texas, that Texas hospitality was present at check in at the front desk with a complimentary, ice cold beverage, in this case a Lone Star beer.
I love the way that the Texican Court is laid out. The rooms all open towards the courtyard so when you step outside you can see everything going on. There are two separate outdoor courtyards and an outside pool area.
The rooms are comfortable and come with a robe to use while you are there, coffee maker a refrigerator filled with drinks and a basket on the coffee table filled with snacks. There is a price card on the desk to let you know what all these goodies will cost you.
The only problem I had was the bed is really soft so my back was sore when I woke up and the water pressure in the bathroom sink could have been better. Other than that the rooms are great.
The Texican offers classic rooms, deluxe rooms, junior suites that have a dining table and a claw foot tub, and the presidential suite which has two rooms, a separate ling room, over sized bathroom and two flat-screen tv’s. All rooms have complimentary wi-fi.
The way the hotel is arranged is very guest friendly. When you arrive the open air main building holds the check in lobby on one side and the Salt Tequila Bar on the left. The pool area is directly behind the main building and on the left and right of the main building are the two distinct courtyards. One courtyard has chairs and tables along with a large free standing fireplace and firepits scattered around. Did I mention the hotel is pet friendly?
The courtyard to the right of the main building has a few tables and chairs and is where the restaurant, Two Mules Cantina, is located. The restaurant is open from 7am to 10pm and has a great continental breakfast along with sandwiches, burgers and Tex Mex fare for lunch. Dinner offers, burgers, brisket sandwiches, a wide variety of tacos and enchiladas. In fact, their motto is “Make Tacos Not War”. They also serve some really good margaritas and have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. There is also a beer garden just outside the restaurant. It makes for a great place to grab a plate of tacos and listen to some music.
The Texican is also great for meetings, weddings or any other get together. The meeting room can be divided into two rooms or one large event space. The Texican is the perfect location for business travelers headed to the Las Colinas area being centrally located and near a lot of the major businesses in the area.

As I said earlier, this is the second Valencia Group Hotel where I have stayed and thoroughly enjoyed each time. If you find yourself headed to a location where they have one of their hotels you should check it out, I think you will be pleased.
What a fun place to stay! I love quirky and unique hotels like this.
Yeah, it is a really nice place. Clean, good food and nice bar and a nice outdoors area. This is the second one of their hotels I have stayed at.
