We ordered beers online from breweries for curbside pickup in Covington, Kentucky and made our own flights, but across the borders in Cincinnati, Ohio and Aurora, Indiana we were checking out breweries the old fashioned way.
Northern Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Project
For $1,200 USD sponsors can participate in the NKY Bourbon Barrel Project. A barrel, materials, artists, an unveiling party, and transportation to the designated location are included. All barrels, painted by local artists, are equipped with solar panels to illuminate the inside and shine through cut out shapes at night. After the barrel is unveiled, it will remain at its designated location for 1 year.
Licknig Riverside Historic Area
Along the Licking River on Riverside Drive there are 7 bronze statues including John James Audubon, James Bradley, Chief Little Turtle, and Daniel Carter Beard. The 4 mile trail continues across the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge along the riverside in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Bircus Brewing Co.
Fire breathers, jugglers, hula hoops, trapeze artists, and beer? Prepare to be amazed at Bircus Brewing Company. The movie theatre converted brewery has 10+ beers on draft and offers live music and circus acts on weekends with plans to add wrestling and opera.
Wooden Cask Brewing Company
Wooden Cask Brewing Company has a large, open tap room with nearly 20 beers on draft, wine, liquor, and a small menu from Drunken Hog BBQ. We recommend Reformation, a nitro Scottish Irish stout, and Thin Blue Line Reserve Bourbon Barrel Aged Blackberry Oatmeal Stout.
Braxton Brewing Company
Braxton Brewing Company has 4 year round, seasonal, and exclusive beers in addition to a line of almost 10 different flavored Vive Hard Seltzers. Beers and seltzers are available at the Covington rooftop and garage converted taproom. Sample experimental brews at Braxton Labs in The Party Source in Bellevue, KY with almost 40 beers on tap. Braxton Barrel House is coming soon to Fort Mitchell, KY with a large outdoor patio and 20 beers available.

2 Miles North in Cincinnati, Ohio
Rhinegeist Brewery has 8 year round, 10+ seasonal, and a collection of limited, barrel aged, and fruit beers on draft. Historical, specialty tasting, private or public, and VIP tasting tours are available. OTR Chili and a merchandise booth are located in the warehouse sized taproom. A selection of wine and cocktails are available in addition to beer on the rooftop. We recommend Lodo, a peach pale ale, and Nitro Luck, an Irish style dry stout on nitro.
Ohio’s oldest market, Findlay Market, has been operating since 1852. Handmade gifts, flowers, fresh produce, meats, pasta, and cheeses are available from more than 40 indoor vendors and merchants on surrounding streets. Just outside the market, a biergarten offers a selection of nearby Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. drafts and other local beverages.
BrewDog has several brewery and bar locations. Apply for a beer visa and check in around the world to earn discounts and free beer. In 2018, the world’s first beer hotel, the DogHouse, opened in Columbus, Ohio. We recommend the Self Assembly Pope, a vanilla and coconut infused porter.

Just across the border of Indiana, Great Crescent Brewery offers a menu of sandwiches and burgers, a large dining room, small gift shop, and a variety of beer and hard seltzers on draft. We recommend the blood orange and vanilla Seltzers.
