I was looking at the analytics of my company’s web site from Argentina, and I spotted a visitor from Coffeyville. I couldn’t be more curious about where this place was and how it looked like. So, amazing having found your article. It’s a really nice place! So, thank you very much!

By the late 1940s the theater had been converted to a movie house, still called “the Tackett”. Mr. Tackett leased the movie house to a theater chain and became a landlord instead of an operator. I was a student at the local juco and worked at the Tackett on a part-time basis. Mr. Tackett used to drop by the theater late at night. Mr. Tackett told me he took the famous picture, rushed the copyright process, and over a relatively short made about $2500.00 in usage fees. Crime didn’t pay for the Daltons, but Mr. Tackett did ok for himself.
