I take a lot of travel photos. Some are good a lot of them are not very good at all.
That is the great thing about a digital camera. Unlike the old 35 mm cameras, a bad photo is just a delete button away from memory.
When I travel I take photos of people, places and things, all kinds of useless things because I never know when I might need a photo of a certain item or place for a story. As a result I have wound up with hundreds, if not thousands, of photos that have never made it into a story but I like them anyway.
Now remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I like taking photos of objects trying to catch on camera what my eye is seeing. As those of you who take photos that isn’t always the easiest thing to do. After I look at some of the photos I take they don’t always capture what I was trying to do.
But as a result I wind up with lots of photos of things like buildings, doors, alleys, mountains. You name it I will try and capture it.
Sometimes the things are just out of the ordinary. Theย don’t fit into the area. Like these that I saw on a wall while walking down a street in Greece.
I think one of the hardest things to capture is weather. There are those that do it and the photos are fantastic. I have a hard time capturing on photo what my eye sees when it comes to weather but I do like trying.
Photos of people are one of my favorite. I like the photos that are not posed or staged but those that tend to capture life in progress. People, how they live and their culture, is one of the things I like most about travel. I like to try and capture the people as much as the places when I travel.
I hope I can continue to improve on my photography skills because I would really like for you to see what I do.
Like you I take a LOT of photos when I travel. And then I get home and sometimes wonder what I was thinking. There is a beauty in the moment sometimes that just seems to escape my camera lens.
I loved these though!
I guess that is why I appreciate great photography. It is an art.
It’s hard to capture a feeling with a camera because the camera strips away so much of what we experience as interesting: sounds, smells, the feel of the air against your face, etc. So we are left with a two dimensional image and only our eyes to reconstruct the experience of being there.
These photos are quite nice.
So true, but I keep trying to capture it. Thanks for the compliment.
I can completely relate! If only we had a penny for every photo that sits on our harddrive, unused…all of our future travels would already be paid for! ๐
Then we could fund those 4 year RTW trips. ๐
I liked the photo of the lone tree in the water. It’s really difficult to capture what you see in front of you, into photos. I’m working on it as well, hope to see more of your photos in the future ๐
Thanks, appreciate it
I can relate in that i take pictures of everything! And I always want to make something out of it, even if it’s just a rock or a leaf. I do love the picture of all the kids on the back of the truck – candid photos of people are my favorite. You have great pictures !
Thanks I like the kids on the bus also
I have a bad habit of taking multiple photos of the same thing to ensure I have the best shot possible… people who travel with me get annoyed b/c I linger – but photos are usually my souvenir and I hate coming home to find that I took a bunch of crappy photos!
I do the same thing, trying to get just the right shot.
Lovely pics. Pictures may not capture the feelings, mood and whatnot, but they are much more evocative than words. Keep on keeping on …
Thanks I appreciate it
I’ve got a lot of photos that I don’t look great–and I’ve forgotten why I took them in some cases. Sometimes it’s just the time and mood and it gets lost in a photo. Meanwhile, I still need to buy a better camera.
I agree, I take tons of photos, some I use and some I save for possible use later. Some I never use.
