Awhile back I wrote a tongue in cheek post about Tourists and how to Spot them. So to be fair I now present you with Travel bloggers and how to spot them.
- If they can tell you the best coffee shops on every continent, yes there is one in Antarctica. They might be a travel blogger.
- If you ask someone where they are headed and you hear “What day is it?” They might be a travel blogger.
- If you try to impress someone by telling them you are vacationing in the small Italian village of San Benedetto, and they in turn tell you the best place to get a good meal, and then add “Tell Marco I sent you”. They might be a travel blogger.
- If they have the Frankfurt to Geneva train schedule memorized. They might be a travel blogger.
- If you see the same person every morning in the lobby uploading photos from their camera and pounding the computer keys frantically. They might be a travel blogger.
- If it appears they exhibit Savant syndrome when it comes to calculating the Euro into Singapore Dollars or the Maldives Rufiya into Botswana Pula. They might be a travel blogger.
- If you happen to be relaxing at an outdoor café on a Tuesday and hear the person next to you yell “Damn Fail Whale!”. They might be a travel blogger ( See twitter #TTOT)
- If it takes the Customs official 5 minutes to find a place to stamp their passport. They might be a travel blogger.
- If they have more frequent flier accounts than credit card accounts. They might be a travel blogger.
- If they can not only recite the name but show photos of festivals in more than 5 countries. They might be a travel blogger.

Hahaha awesome article! #8 and #9 are so true. I was so upset when my old passport was stole about 6 months ago — I was trying to fill all the pages before it expired. Now I am re-starting with a clean one…
Yeah I am guilty too
This is high-larious! I’m not there… yet
Thanks for stopping by, I fit a few of them myself.
If they include the phrase “free wi-fi” in every internet search for hotels and restaurants, they might be a travel blogger.
(Hilarious post, btw)
Too funny, I laughed so hard reading these!! I especially love the scene in the lobby, that’s been me so many times.
Thanks for visiting Dayna, I fit a few of those myself.
still smiling even if i have finished reading this honest and hilarious article! LOL! despite the number of camera-whoring individuals in my country, there are times I doubt if they are real bloggers. great post! thanks to theholidaze that I found this site 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it. I thought since I wrote an article about how to spot tourists then it was only fair. Stop back by again.
If you see somebody photographing restaurant menus; road signs or opening times of a tourist attraction, they are probably a Travel Blogger!
I take two types of photo’s on my trip, blog photographs and info-capture photographs – a much easier way than writing down notes.
Not only menus but bring out all the photo gear to include tripod to take a shot of the dessert.
Word! thanks for your post. Just had a lot of fun reading it and felt identified with some of them. The list could go on and on..
I have been guilty of a few myself. 🙂
Perfect fun post for a Monday. Lovin’ #4 and #6.
I have friends in the airline industry and we tend to use airport codes instead of city names, now I wonder what that sounds like to others. *laugh*
Btw, I missed the tourist post, so thanks for the link to that – there too, I laughed (out loud).
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great list! Soooo true!
If they spend to much time reading other travel blogs … 🙂
Great article, love the picture!
Thanks for sharing!
Guilty as charged.
Amen to that 🙂
If you see someone photographing their dinner in a restaurant… they might be a travel blogger.
Guilty as charged.
Years later, and true as ever. Funny as ever, too. Of course, these could be “Qualifications” for travel blogging, too. Seems like at least half of these fit me before I ever wrote a post!
Thanks for stopping by glad you enjoyed it.
If during a conversation they’re are repeating everything back to you in listicle format then they are most likely travel bloggers 🙂 Great post! Lots of humour.
